Ruudy & Beckie Olupot

Location: Soroti-Uganda, East Africa

Ruudy and Beckie Olupot live and work in Soroti, Uganda. They have one son, Boaz. They are the founders of Loveworld Community Development Initiative (LOCODI). LoCoDI is a Community Based organization in Soroti. They have Sexual Purity Clubs running in several schools, which includes teaching students about their Creator, and how He values them, and about HIV/AIDs prevention, among other things. They are passionate about youth discipleship. They rarely have less than five young people staying with them at any given time. They also enjoy helping children and young adults gain access to school and/or vocational training through connections and sponsorships.

There are many ways to get involved in our work...

Child Sponsorship Program

All of our primary school kids have been sponsored and we are now phasing out of the typical sponsorship program as our kids become older. We see the need for young people, those who have not been able to complete primary level education, or those who could not complete secondary education, who need to be trained in some sort of skill, to become self-sufficient. We are beginning to develop a skills based training for vulnerable youth. We will update the site as the program develops. There may be other ways to get involved, apart from sponsoring a young person once we start skills training, such as coming and mentoring in various skills.

Purity Clubs and HIV Prevention

We currently have purity clubs in three primary schools and two secondary schools. Through song, drama, dance, lectures and demonstrations we connect with young people of various ages. In our time together they learn about their Maker, His purpose for their lives, how each person has value, and how sex has value as well. They also learn how to protect themselves from HIV/Aids and other sexually transmitted diseases. And we share with them the benefits of following the Word of God and keeping themselves for their future spouse. One man, one woman. With so many confusing voices surrounding and enticing them, we present a Voice of Truth that helps them to navigate these tricky adolescent years.

Garage Fellowship

Garage Fellowship is a gathering of believers and future believers in the gospel of Jesus Christ, who desire to grow in the Lord through studying His word, praying, worshipping, and sharing together. We believe the Word of God is the final authority. It is called Garage because God is our Chief Mechanic and we live in a crazy world, where we have to keep going back to God to repair us, to service us, to make improvements and upgrades. We recognize that God is our Keeper. We as Garage value life. We share Communion the first Sunday of each month. We celebrate birthdays at the end each month. We look for ways to encourage one another in our journeys to become more like Christ. We love to sing and dance for the Lord.

Enlightened Solar Lights Project

The average student in Uganda uses unhealthy and unsafe locally made kerosene lamps for studying at night.

The majority of orphans, like most of the ones in our project, cannot even afford kerosene lamps, often having to use firewood.

For just $17 we can provide a solar lamp to one of the orphans in our project. Our goal is to get these to 350 kids.  Join us and lets make this a reality. Please donate now. Thank you and God bless you.

Chickens & Goats Livelihood Project

We are currently running an initiative called Chickens and Goats Livelihood project.  We have tested this initiative and found it very helpful and with a good multiplier effect.

For a gift of $12, we can buy two chickens for a child. For a gift of $50, we can purchase a female goat for a child. Not only do children learn valuable skills about caring for animals, the eggs and milk provide food and income.

Your donations have an immediate and long-term impact. Please support our work today.

Come visit us for a vision trip that is tailored to help you learn, see, feel and love what the Lord is doing in Uganda!

There are many things you can do during your trip. You can attend and possibly teach at one or more of the purity clubs. You could join a school outreach, or spend time with children in the sponsorship program. We also live with several young people who would love to share with you about life in Uganda and take you around the village or move around town.

And there's always an opportunity to see and experience Uganda's beautiful landscape and wildlife on a safari tour.
